When are You Going to Learn that Hold’em Poker is All About Position!

I have been playing poker now for about five years, I’ve wagered cards my entire life starting with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various forms of Brag and general random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so beautifully called, card on head casino game. I used to always win, whatever casino game we were playing and even though I liked to call it skill, it was really hard to warrant considering the randomness of the games we were wagering, so I was happy to accept I was having a prolonged run of luck.

Then came Poker, or much more importantly Texas holdem Poker, made popular by a bunch of Texas card players in the 60’s and since grown into one of the biggest card phenomena ever seen. Poker is totally the new black, it really is uber awesome with many of the world’s leading celebrities racing to have their name connected with it. Just a quick scan via the TV channels nowadays and it is possible to not escape from poker, and of course there is the fabled WSOP, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for every single player.

So with all of this new found popularity, with so many Tv programmes dedicated to poker, and magazine and book shelves filled up with high quality material written by the leading minds on poker, when are individuals going to learn that this game is all about position!?

Perhaps I really should not have so worked up about this, after all the much more folks who wrestle with the subtle tactics and methods needed for winning consistently at Holdem, the far better it truly is for everyone else, proper? I mean, if they can’t be troubled to look at all of the available data about why placement is so critical, why need to we bother? We ought to just be happy there is another fish at the table!

It’s true, we need to not encourage procrastination with guidance and assist. Even so, I liken this to a helpful casino game of football. Granted the stakes aren’t so good, except when you notice a gambler having difficulties, you assist them, offer them a few advice, ultimately showing them a method to love, like and appreciate the game as much as you. I’m askin all house gamblers to do the same thing with their poker buddies who have not quite grasped the nuances of betting position. Aid them to grow their respect for the game. Obviously, do not attempt to try this one in your local gambling den, the sharks won’t take pleasure in you teaching their meal how to swim!
