Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

May 2nd, 2017 at 2:25

Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the last table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest gamblers in the world. While competing in net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full dollar value. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world might be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen betting on online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha high and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
