Web High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

November 10th, 2019 at 16:25

Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve final game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors around the world. While competing in internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I think television can alter our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world may be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen wagering on web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in high stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash games?
