Web High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

July 4th, 2021 at 13:25

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve final game in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While gambling on online poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
