Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

January 19th, 2022 at 8:25

Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the last game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best players in the world. While competing in web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is broke, he has no reason to play at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
