Stu is considered by most to the finest NL Texas hold’em Poker player ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champ was born in New York in 1953 and started playing poker before reaching his teens.

The young gambler started out betting gin and at the age of ten had won his 1st gin tournament, while on holiday with his mother and father. By the time he turned fourteen the small poker maestro had turned professional and dropped out of school.

In 1954 Stu Ungar entered the history books by winning $10,000 in a gin tournament without sacrificing a single hand, a record which still stands in New York these days.

The fast speaking superstar has been likened, in poker terms, to sporting greats such as Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. Stu had a actual skill for betting poker but despite his successes in Hold’em poker, he favored playing gin.

Stu once said that there may some day be a far better No Limit Texas hold’em player than him except he couldn’t see how anyone could ever be a better gin gambler.

In 1980 Stu was put on the world map as one of the greatest Hold’em Poker gamblers in the planet when he was crowned World Poker Champion for the 1st time. Amazingly it was the 1st time he had entered the tournament.

The right after year he put aside any thoughts that it had been luck, by successfully defending his crown. And in 1997 Stu set the record by winning his 3rd World poker championship.

Except this poker master also battled with drug abuse and a year after succeeding his third title Stu past away in his hotel room. According to doctors, he had passed away from a cardiac event which was caused by his lifestyle.

Stu had started with nothing except his ability and talent for the game which made this poker excellent a millionaire a lot of times over.
