No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from others kill his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He started playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
