Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
